Date: August 4, 2012
City: Chicago, IL
Venue: Grant Park
My last day of Lollapalooza 2012 included:
BOMBAY BICYCLE CLUB – Indie rock band from London. I really enjoyed their set.
OUTASIGHT – New York hip hop artist. His set was a lot of fun and he really got the crowd going. The big hit everyone knew at the time was “Tonight Is The Night”.
GARY CLARK JR. – Austin guitarist often compared to Jimi Hendrix. This guy knows how to rip on a guitar.
DUM DUM GIRLS – Los Angeles rock band. Always fun to see chicks rock.
THE GASLIGHT ANHTHEM – I liked this New Jersey rock band
THE JEZABELS – Aussie indie/alternative rock band
EMPIRES – Indie rock band from Chicago
CHILDISH GAMBINO – Donald Glover’s rap alter ego. It was a bit weird to see Community’s Troy performing as a rap artist.
I spent a good portion of this Lollapalooza checking out the smaller stages discovering new bands. While I didn’t feel the headliners were as strong as years past, I still had a good time. How can you not enjoy yourself when you are living in a festival world for three days?
